Our story

Built by hoppers,
for hoppers

HobbyHopper started with a closet full of abandoned hobbies and one simple question: what if letting go of one obsession could fund the next one?

The hobby graveyard problem

Every creative person has one โ€” the corner of the room with the guitar they stopped playing, the camera they stopped using, the knitting kit still in its original packaging. We all hop between hobbies. And we all feel a little guilty about it.

HobbyHopper was born from that guilt. Not to shame the hopping, but to celebrate it. Curiosity is a feature, not a bug. The person who tries 18 hobbies in a year isn't flaky โ€” they're alive.

"What if the guitar you abandoned could buy the watercolor set you've been eyeing? What if letting go of one thing was just the beginning of the next?"

โ€” The idea that started everything

We built a platform where your past passions fund your future ones. Trade in the old, discover the new, find the community that actually gets you.

Keep curiosity alive

We believe the world is better when people make things โ€” when they pick up instruments, fill sketchbooks, grow things, stitch things, build things. The creative act, regardless of medium, makes people more human.

Our mission is to lower every barrier between someone and their next creative obsession. That means making gear affordable through trade-ins, making discovery effortless through communities, and making the hopping itself feel joyful and natural.

Hop without guilt
Moving on from a hobby isn't failure. It's curiosity in action. We celebrate the journey, not just the destination.
โ™ป๏ธ
Nothing goes to waste
Every piece of gear traded in goes straight to someone else's hands. Zero landfill, maximum creativity.
๐ŸŒ
Community first
The best part of any hobby isn't the gear โ€” it's the people. Every HobbyHopper community is built around genuine connection.

Creativity is for everyone
Not just artists. Not just professionals. Anyone with curiosity and a little time deserves a place to make things.

Standing on the shoulders of makers

We were inspired by the maker movement, the resale revolution, and the simple truth that Gen Z approaches creativity differently โ€” faster, more fluid, less precious about it. They pick things up, go deep for a season, then move on without apology.

We were also inspired by platforms like Play It Again Sports, Depop, and Ravelry โ€” each of which proved there's a passionate community around every niche, and that secondhand doesn't mean second-rate.
